surrounding us is the sound of wind in the deep forest
rustling the autumn leaves — hurrying them to their death
quietly they take their place upon the moss-covered earth
as our senses absorb them in an awe-inspiring breath
they fall–there within their colors deep
red ruby piercing through the brown decay
lemon yellow tickling the mood
apricot orange is on display as our eyes walk on their way
bleeding heart berries bowing to us
white pine needles shedding their dress
the evergreen calls for our vigilance
while quietly tufts of grass are being laid to rest

I forget how bright the colors of autumn are in Wisconsin. Last week when my daughter visited we were at the beach! So easy to forget. Thank you for sharing that wonderful color. Your grandbabies are adorable too! ❤

Thank you. Mary! It has been quite a rainy Fall…I do wish the wind would die down a bit and the sun out more! It has rained ALL week…only an hour of sunlight when I took the photos two days ago.

Hi Ms. Johann.
This is Colin Stuart… I was in your 7th or 8th grade english class back in Pewaukee. Was poking around my facebook and noticed you’ve deactivated your account there. If you want to talk or catch up I’m up for that.
