sweet aroma of the corn harvest
drifts in from the fields
flaky butter crust
dressing the country table
zucchini celebrating overflow
tomatoes are ripening
yellow beans dancing in a row
green broccoli dreams
sweet peas tiptoeing into our mouths
feast is upon us
as butterflies migrate towards the south
with the flowers giving their last hurrah
Very nice!

Thank you, Mary…the tomatoes are growing but still very green. The zucchini plants were attacked by grubs–but only after 35 delightful zucchini were harvested. Your hard work paid off! As you know, the rest of the vegetables are in my imagination…

A wonderful summer poem that brings back many happy memories of our own big garden. 🙂

dear Eliza. Happy August to you! The days are running by quickly! I embellished the “poetic garden”—I only have three items this summer…tomatoes, zucchini and beginning plants of rhubarb! Glad the words brought back “happy memories” for you! I am coming to visit your beautiful blog NOW!
