driftwood we are

according to Norse mythology
the Norse gods, Ask and Embla,
an Ash and an Elm,
were the first two humans
formed from driftwood...

aren’t we all pieces of greenwood

newly born driftwood

shaped and formed by our experiences

childhood washed over with

waves of emotions

weathered wind

sun drenched humans

brought into the world whole

parts of us lost

along the journey

trying to make good

reaching for sainthood

in our feel-good way

some of us

becomes deadwood

trying to rid ourselves

of falsehood

parts of us survive

and we  make-good

providing shelter

to each other

living the Talmud

gnarled and twisted by life

wellsprings of joy

serendipitous appearance

springwood floods

baptize us

beckoning us onward

and

hopefully

we come out

beautiful

at the end
