sometimes…

sometimes the heart is so sad

that the tears cascade out of our being…

sometimes we feel there is nothing that can bring it out of the dark

sometimes the hurt is carved so deep…

and no matter what we have tried …fails

sometimes there are those raindrops even when the sun shines…

our eyes are blurred with confusion…

our heart strings have been stretched beyond their endurance…

so…sometimes… we want to quit and give it all up

… it is then…

that we are called to believe even when we don’t

…it is then…

that we have to reach beyond ourselves

and be thankful for the tears that flow …

tears… the droplets of grace from God…

…we have to reach for the  deepest part of our self and sit with who we are…and be present to the GOD within…

…hang on to that HOPE even when it seems it is not there

…it is then that we have to believe in the BEST of each other

and of ourselves…

sometimes… despite all that speaks directly against our struggle

we have to keep going…and never stop loving…

Tanka #7: Gentle Snow

Japanese Yew Tree. Its green needles change to orange just before they fall from the tree during the winter season. Then the branches and twigs rest for awhile before regaining their beautiful, soft green needles in the Spring. Photo Credit: c. Jane H. Johann 11/21/2015 Palmyra, WI USA

snowflakes gently fall

quietly, unassuming

cover the landscape

Mother Earth graced with beauty

intricately softened joy

Maybe only God can do this…

You hear

the whisper

behind my words

The words

that cannot be spoken

but need to be heard

You listen

to the silence

of my heart

The cries…the struggle…

the pains…

all the intricate parts…

tears fill my being

life within is struggling

for breath

confusion and rejection

felt so strong

traveling to the ocean depth

logic took a vacation

emotions take over

without defeat

but something holds me strong

LOVE is there

and so it is YOU I meet
