  1. The 7th Annual Spirit First Poetry Contest is open for submissions of poems that relate to meditation or mindfulness. Poets may submit up to three unpublished poems. The first place winner will receive $200; second place will receive $150; and third place will receive $100.Deadline is February 29. To learn more, read the contest guidelines.
  1. The Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award welcomes African American poets to submit a book-length manuscript for consideration. Books should be approximately 60 to 90 pages. Broadside Lotus Press will declare a winner who will receive $500 and publication by the press in early 2017.Deadline: March 1. Submissions must be sent via postal mail.
