I watched the caterpillar
Move confidently up the length of the stem
up and over and around and down again
repeating her pattern from stem to stem…
soon it was introverted–
suspended upside down
as the blade of grass bent with the breeze…
caterpillar’s mind was in a spiral whirlwind
moving freshly forward into a new reality…
…a new awareness…
you can never ever go back to where you were
there is no back…
only forward movement…
each touch…each experience
similar in some way to what was previous
but now with a different nuance
different perspective…
you are forever changed…
evolving on the spiral staircase

The graphic design I found online. I am waiting until I can find one to “capture” in my camera—may have to wait for the Spring! Thank you!

From a simple observation – everyday but few make it – this poem expands into a comprehensive view of destination and destiny itself. So well written and everything to admire here. Kudos!

Yoshiko, what is “normal?” I guess that is it—each experience changes us–and we continue to evolve–the direction depends on us…Thanks for your visit!

Oui! You found it, Francoise! Glad you enjoy it! There is a posting from eons ago, where Mich Smith and I did a posting together. She did the photograph and I did the poem. If I can find it, I will direct it to you!

A great analogy. Maybe the worm likes being the star instead of the butterfly it turns into. Nice take on it.
