love is…
summersaults in the air
living with renewed care
happiness in your heart
getting a brand new start
refreshing as the daffodils in Spring
love gives your heart a gentle ring
regardless of the rain
love brings you home again
love is amused
with the tightrope dancing melodies
of green and blue hues
as the unchained wild horse
rides the clouds of missing cues
*
into the quiet darkness

Wild Horses 6 (Photo credit: hep73)
love encounters the pain
headstrong into the buttress
free fall rappelling
left bleeding breathless
*
echoing primordial screams
gleaning from the rebel
bits of broken dreams
abandoned and left
on the rugged crossbeam
the river revolted, running dark
all because you gave a caustic remark
as the thunder roared its rumble
ominous clouds began to clash cascading into a fumble
lightning fired bloody red
crying disturbed your crazy head
as scars carried inside and out began to furiously shout
you did yourself in with your ridiculous doubts
now you lay weeping with your parallel life
regret accompanies your tongue’s own knife
hasten to revive the dying skylark
hasten to forgive yourself for your pockmark
if you don’t change, you will die
if you don’t change, you will ask yourself why
what would be the point of living if there wasn’t change
what would be the point…of your own self estranged

samara seed
you birth life to the birch
flowering into the clustered catkins
blooming your fragrance
row after row
tree after tree
light green to forest green
your brown young trunk stands strong in your group
as you drink in the water from the sweet earth
slender, tall eloquent bearers of truth
you stretch your limbs high and wide
each twig of your arbor beauty
stretching out into the blue abyss
urging us to follow the call
as you age your chalky white bark of papery layers beckons secret messages of the heart
to those who may once discover them somewhere down the road
drawing together the lovers
who reverence you so
over the ages you have given of yourself so many times
your spirit so pliable…your quality malleable
as a child i thought of the Oneida people who fashioned a canoe out of your River Birch trunk
so willingly you carried them across Mother Earth’s river road
your beauty is enchanting
graceful delicate foliage
ethereal birch

whimsical beautiful you
sung by the lonesome guitar
gentle you
walk among the creatures of Mother Earth
willing to go the difficult distance for rebirth
your hazel eyes
ever reaching for the majestic stars
seeker of truth and honesty … you ride the streetcar
at once alone…seemingly forgot…but not… you stand strong
willing to risk and jump the bar…bicycling like the running jaguar
all through the day and the nightlong you sing your song
perplexed by humans who are so bizarre
yet your kind silence is your guard
your sense of humor carries the memoir
leaving no traces of the scarred
willing to rid yourself of the eschar
you search and never falter
gentle, helpful you…loving and loved afar
you have given your sacrifice to the altar

each imagination writes its own page…
the stirrings deep within
emerge in light
with the innate desire to share
touching my soul with yours
giving birth once again
