the smile

the smile

caught us both

you liked mine

i liked yours

intensity built

as the conversations flowed

inundating the email system

in a back and forth flurry

then on to Messenger

day and night

into the wee hours

parlaying…smiling…laughing

detours…disconnects…

realignment…words running furiously onward

time knew no bounds

then

texting followed my heart

through several states

then

we skyped

and met face to face

then

we planned how we would meet

then

plans became interrupted

and

now…

NOTHING…

even in their absence

words ARE  sharper than swords

perseverance

the bud is born…the leaf formed

basking in the sunlight

it breathes in the air

and happily colors itself green

smiling gayly, waving sweetly

then the winds come…

the source of ocean

the storm is all about

the green leaf has fallen from the tree…

fallen into the river running wild down the bed

pushed along by life’s  force

happened

so quickly…

boundaries unknown

oh…stubbed its toe! on the rock below…

pushed up again by the wave of gentleness…the wind carries it freely

as it breezes its way, floating on love

then turbulence…the sky has turned grey

bashed here and there…

suffocating…it can not breathe…

drowning…in the sea of life…

yet some unknown force…some angel-life draws it forward

it says, don’t give up…one more float

the green leaf is a bit tattered

and bruised…but stronger for the ware…

it continues down the river…

pushed down…up and over

then riding the waves once again…

the waters carry it forth

as it rests gently on the shore

battle with the insidious alliance

Well, what have we here?

An insidious alliance

With dark, wretched anguish!

Well, what have we here?

Beating yourself up again?

Not willing to relinquish?

Well, what have we here?

Swallowing the words of the oppressor?

Allowing yourself to be extinguished!

Well, what have we here?

No, stand inside yourself

Let-go of the pain–allow the evil to famish!

Well, what have we here?

I, me, and myself as well

Only goodness will be my garnish!

Well, what have we here?

I, me, and myself as well

I will not let love be tarnished!

morning offers its quiet

pink subtle sun rays peeking into the day

as the darkness within lifts away

equanimity…balance the center

heart turning will

what will feed the fill

breathe…breathe in the  air

breathe in the beautiful

sing the peaceful minstrel

letting go of all that is not you

letting go of the negative force

letting go amid the discourse

breathe…breathe in the air

breathe in burgundy love

breathe in peaceful dove
