 the promise of the NOW

speaks through your gentle presence

your strength is like the bough of a tree,

flexible with the wind,

but resiliently steadfast

you are courageous

as you walk forward into the unknown

LOVE

walks with you

as you share the goodness of LIFE

to all you meet on the way

begin the next moment like it was our first

January carries a freshness

with the Wisconsin cold

The air is crisp and clear

clarifying the bold

Intricate designs, weaving this way and that

travel the mind

Thoughts are strong and questioning

As the confident courage rewinds

2014 in review THANK YOU to ALL of my Readers!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 7,500 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.

Women’s words

Women are Human Beings. Women ARE Equal to Men. What else is there to say? We can complement one another…we do NOT need to compete with each other…we just need to accept each other as human beings and treat each other with respect. Historically, we know that women were not supposed to have an opinion, a good idea, or anything but a good dinner on the table. There was little a woman was allowed to do besides all of the housework, cooking, baking, When abolitionists and suffragettes began to stand up at a podium to speak in support of ending slavery and allowing women to vote.

Now women are speakers, writers, CEO’s, athletes and not the weaker or second sex. Are we equal. NO! I am a news junkie and America is suffering from an increase of racism and misogyny.  Black men are being targeted. Even a white woman like I am can see that. Republicans have made sure that women do not earn equal pay for equal work. We are the only citizens who are not legally equal. Why? Men are threatened by women, especially women who are assertive. I will never…

Dream Chaser by Cypherx Dream Chaser by Cypherx

“Let yourself be drawn by the strange pull of that which you truly love.”  Rumi

Don’t you just love all of the inspirational quotes about following your dreams?  “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”.  Preach it, Eleanor Roosevelt!  Or what about our buddy Walt Disney:  “If you can dream it, you can do it”.   And since I have reached that 1/2 century marker, C.S. Lewis has become my new BFF with this one:  “You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream”.  Makes me want to take up embroidery so that I can put that on a pillow.

I have found that the problem with growing older is that my freedom and capacity to dream seems to have diminished.  When I was young I could look toward the future and know that anything was possible.  Everything…

Book Review: The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

Naomi Klein is a very credible Canadian journalist and documentary writer and speaker concerning our world issues. This is a book worth reading. The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein
The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein is the story of where and how capitalism is evolving in our society. I first heard Klein last week as a guest on Bill Mahr’s Real Time and I was pretty intrigued. I followed that up with watching her TED Talk and a trip to my local library. Klein is a writer, journalist, and film maker. She writes a syndicated column for The Nation and The Guardian, and covered the Iraq war for Harper’s. Her first book No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies is on my short list.

People often ask me why do I read so much non-fiction when other concentrate their focus on fiction. Sometimes nonfiction can be as terrifying as a Stephen King novel. Sometimes it can be as disturbing as the best dystopian novels. Most of all it is real and…

gentleness carries us

Dedicated  with Gratitude to Dr.  Horty Rexach

for the gentle inspiration she has given to me and for the courage in which she lives her life

the gentleness of the wind

shifting to the right

and then to the left

carries the floating leaf to the ground

cushioning its final resting place

as it is received

 into Mother Earth

feelings

–strong emotions in our life–

move us back and forth

through our conjured expectations

as we tighten our grip on  illusions…

release them, we must–gently–

it is necessary for our rebirth

*

allow the feelings to dissipate

and give rise to new life

like the tulip and daffodil bulbs

that we bury in the Fall

acknowledge their presence

weep with them if we must

then, gently put our feelings to rest

*

rise above

look for the good

and

be the good

today is our moment

NOW is our time

moving forward with our best

There Must Be Peace in the Heart

I think Compassion is key to our lives, if we desire peace within. Please direct your likes or comments to: http://peacockseyes.com/2013/11/13/there-must-be-peace-in-the-heart/#comment-20100

peace May we all find peace within

This month’s Bloggers for Peace Challenge is Love Thy Enemy. How does one love thy enemy? I think it helps to clarify ‘like’ versus ‘love’. To love is to be responsible, to do what is best, and to bring no harm to another, or oneself. To like is more personal, or individual. I may like chocolate; you may detest it. I may like having animals around; you may feel they are pests. Likes vary from person to person, but most of us would probably agree that we do not like people who are selfish, cruel, or violent, aka enemies. It is ok not to like them, but we can still love them. We all have that choice.

‘Enemies’ are sentient beings too. When someone acts in an unkind or non-loving way, they are hurting inside. Finding compassion for their suffering frees us from…
